After you have “fallen off the wagon” how do you jump back on? It can seem daunting. Often the crappy food calls out to your palette for more. Instead of feeding into that and the feeling that you may “feel chubby”, remember that it may be that you have made digesting your food harder because most of what you ate was probably just “food like” without any real nutritional value.
If I have had an indulgence eating day, I follow it up with a morning smoothie. If I have had an indulgence week…or in some cases month (it happens), I will set myself straight with a juice cleanse. The idea of course is to give your digestive system a rest to allow the food already in your system to digest without introducing more food to the mix.
Following is a smoothie we call The Bloat Buster to drink as your “reset meal” that will help decrease your bloat by getting your digestion moving and you hydrated. It tastes yummy and is full of vital nutrients.
- ½ cup Apple
- ½ cup Mango
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 1 cup Cucumber (with skin)
- 1 ½ cup Kale
- 1 cup chilled Coconut Water
- 4 Ice Cubes (spring water)
Blend it to your desired texture
Try to include some greens (cilantro is a nice replacement too). Also – get in as much water as you can to hydrate and help the body do the work to release what could result in toxic overload if gone unchecked.
It’s all about balance. You don’t necessarily have to give up the foods you love (that aren’t great for you) but you do have to learn to take a break and incorporate behaviors into your lifestyle that treat the body like the machine that it is. Even a Benz needs an oil change….
